iPhone 4 features: FaceTime hands-on

Leanna and Chad go hands-on — and faces on! — with iPhone 4 FaceTime video calling

One of the big game-changer iPhone 4 is FaceTime, the version of Apple's video-call. Chad and I were very excited to try and record our experience.

A few things first. You can start a call FaceTime or the entry of the contact person, or during a call. It is incredibly simple and easy to do - have noted other than a failure to hand Dieter and Marcus ...

One can not say if the person you wish to call to make video available (4 on their iPhone over Wi-Fi) so you can FaceTime. If you should have a call to tell you when you're ready or not, but if you try it, without asking, or contact entry, it's time-out, can not connect.

We must also emphasize that you can enable and disable in the settings of FaceTime. This is great for privacy, but if it is turned off, and nobody knows who is disabled, can be frustrating. Needless to say, if you want to use FaceTime, make sure it is enabled.

On the hands-on video after the break.

The first thing we noticed that the video quality is very good - better than any of us expected. There was no lag or pixelation.

An amusing discovery made that we the small window that contains its own video (Portrait) can be moved anywhere you want. A quick shot in the right direction is all you need to do.

We even have the sound with headphones and we both agreed that the quality was much sharper. This is probably because the microphone headset pick up sound instead of the microphone of the iPhone we have a few meters from the mouth.

Another thing is that we discovered, you can use the screen during a call, press Home and FaceTime any other applications on the iPhone. However, this pause the video the other person and you hear only the sound. You can easily return the call FaceTime touch the green bar that appears at the top of the screen, similar to other navigation applications when on a call.

Finally, to Chad and I are very happy with FaceTime impressed on the iPhone and we look forward to it as a way to talk to our Canadian TiPb Bulls, Rene and Georgia!
